Malana Wien, a ninth-grader at Rowland High in California, won the girls small school freshman race at the Fastback Invitational, covering the 1.7-mile layout in 13:39.8 in her high school debut at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, Calif. Wien equaled the third-fastest freshman time overall from both races combined.
